Research Analyst


Job purpose
Reporting to the Principal Institutional Research Officer, the holder of this position will be responsible for data collection, management and analysis; preparation of data analysis reports and managing office of institutional research projects.
Responsibilities
Performs data collection, management and analysis tasks
  • Prepare program questionnaires on Survey Monkey and other software programs;
  • Collect data using a variety of methods including but not limited to field data; collection, telephone surveys, mobile phone applications surveys and online surveys
  • Coordinate field surveys;
  • Perform data cleaning and preparation of code books;
  • Prepare and labels data files in different statistical software formats for analysis and reporting;
  • Perform data analysis for the different collected surveys, mined and collated data;
  • Perform data mining for different stakeholders from the data warehouse;
  • Prepare timely and accurate institutional data reports;
  • Assist in the design of the comprehensive data warehouse system and data visualization platform for housing periodic reports;
  • Assist with drafting and editing of project reports and methodological reports as assigned.
Acts as Project Coordinator for Institutional research projects as assigned.
  • Prepare timelines for assigned projects;
  • Assist with budget preparation and budget revisions for assigned projects;
  • Maintain communication with clients on survey progress;
  • Submit brief, written reports on project progress each week to the supervisor and reports on project progress, needs, and plans at weekly project scan meetings;
  • Maintain communication with project teams using e-mail and team meetings as needed;
  • Monitor expenditures to ensure that projects stay within budget;
  • Support in identification of consultancy opportunities for the office of institutional research that will generate income (as a fundraising activity for the university);
  • Coordinate with the Principal Institutional Research Officer regarding scheduling or resource problems affecting timely completion of assigned projects and any issues affecting survey quality.
Responsible for institutional research office administration including
  • Filing of office documents;
  • Raising requisitions;
  • Renewal of Membership registration and software licenses;
Allocate tasks and coordinate research assistants and data entry clerks;
May occasionally be assigned to other tasks at the discretion of the Director University Advancement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or any related field with bias in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • At least two years’ work experience in an educational environment.
  • Experience in programming and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of at least two quantitative and qualitative statistical software programs.
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Project.
  • Understanding of statistical techniques for the social sciences.
  • Knowledge of statistical computing platforms.
  • Project management skills.

Senior Security Officer

Job purpose
Reporting to the head of security, the holder of this position will be responsible for the day to day running of all security operations on campus.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all exit and entry point to and from the university are protected and there is a physical presence of guards 24 hours on campus;
  • Manage a zone warden system according to the evacuation plan;
  • Co-ordinate and supervise the functions of the contracted security guards to ensure that they meet the university’s expectation;
  • Report all the daily occurrences for action through the chain of command;
  • Assist with the security training and awareness to all contracted guards to conform to the university internal security needs (done by carrying out routine lectures, compliance physical checks of the guards their assignments);
  • Identify and control staff ,equipment, students and visitors in and out of the university premises;
  • Monitoring movements of university equipment into and out of campus by verifying gate passes;
  • Conduct regular searches to unearth crime and criminality and enforcement of all rules/regulations/policies;
  • Monitor functionality of perimeter fence, CCTV, fire-fighting equipment and securing lighting system in the university;
  • Preventing, detecting and protection against all illegal invasion and destruction of the university’s assets and information;
  • Perform any other duties as directed by the management / laws from time to time.
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or any social science from an accredited university;
  • A diploma in lieu of the above in a security-related discipline or social science;
  • K.C.S.E grade C+ (plus) or equivalent;
  • Have served for a period of five (5) years in the disciplined forces or held a supervisory role from recognized security firms;
  • Possession of a valid driving license.

Principal Officer

Job purpose
Reporting to the Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor- Student Affairs, the holder of this position will be responsible for providing administrative and technical leadership in the establishment and operations of a Differently Abled Persons & Special Needs resource center. The center will ensure accessibility and inclusivity of Differently Abled persons and other Special Needs in all the university’s processes, programs, services, facilities and equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Establish the Differently Abled Persons & Special Needs resource center;
  • Ensure the full adherence and compliance of the access of Differently Abled Persons and other Special Needs (DAP & SN) policy by all arms of the university community;
  • Develop tools, instruments, controls and procedures for monitoring, assessment, evaluation and tracking of the provision of services for DAP & SN;
  • Collect and document data on recruitment, admission, enrollment, retention and graduation of DAP & SN;
  • Keep records of the diagnoses or natures of the disabilities or special needs presented and performing periodic reviews of the same;
  • Act as the point of contact for DAP & SN in relation to information on all university services;
  • Notify the relevant department/support services of any admission or recruitment of DAP & SN and of the special or additional learning support required by the person(s);
  • Document and track complaints raised by or relating to DAP & SN regarding their work, or in and out of class experience while on or out of campus;
  • Liaise with the parents/guardians and support systems for Differently Abled Students with and Special Needs (DAP & SN) on their general social and academic welfare;
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, agencies and committees to generate information, training and advocacy/sensitization programs on the needs of DAP & SN;
  • Monitor, assess and evaluate the university’s adherence to the access of the DAP & SN Policy and relevant legal and statutory requirements, and recommend revisions as may be necessary. Such revisions shall be undertaken with due involvement of DAP & SN.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and updating of the DAP & SN policy to ensure that emerging issues, practices and trends in the provision of quality services, products and educations to DAP & SN are, where appropriate, incorporated therein.
Qualifications 
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Five years of work experience in the area of disability inclusion or its equivalent preferably in an institution of higher learning.

Principal Institutional Research Officer


Job purpose
Reporting to Director University Advancement, the holder of this position will be responsible for conducting research/ surveys, reviewing relevant information, studying research trends both internal and external, and providing business counsel for evaluation and adoption by the different divisions and departments of the university.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive institutional research program that will support strategic planning, evidence-based decision making, and outcomes assessment;
  • Conduct and interpret education market trend analysis with an aim of advising the university’s strategic direction;
  • Coordinate the collection and presentation of statistical analyses of relevant institutional data and key performance indicators to support institutional decision-making;
  • Improve existing data collection strategies and develop new approaches and procedures for the collection and analysis of institutional data;
  • Ensure the university’s compliance with all the regulatory bodies and university ranking reporting requirements;
  • Disseminate compiled research/ survey reports and completed external surveys to the relevant university organs;
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for data collection and reporting processes to ensure data integrity;
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data warehouse system and visualization platform to house periodic reports;
  • Provide technical guidance and support to departments on the completion of external surveys for various agencies including support for institutional self-study, accreditation, program assessment and program review;
  • Support in reviewing, monitoring and evaluating the university’s strategic plan;
  • Conduct regular trainings and workshops to upgrade skills in methods of collecting and reporting institutional data;
  • Providing strategic advisory service to the university using institutional and other external data;
  • Mine, analyze, interpret and disseminate institutional data;

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Social Statistics, Econometrics or any related field with bias in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • 5 years’ experience in business/ statistical analysis, research and data management.
  • Experience in higher education will be preferred.
  • Experience in training, research and statistical consultancy.
  • Membership in relevant professional bodies.
  • Demonstrate competency in at least 3 statistical software including R, SPSS, STATA, Excel, as well as MS Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word and Project.
