Tuesday December 10, 2019 - Deputy President William Ruto’s lieutenants have continued yapping with regard to the arrest of Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko.
On Friday last week, the flamboyant Governor was arrested over the misappropriation of Sh 357 million while awarding a garbage tender.
During the arrest of the Governor in Voi, he was manhandled by police officers who even gave him a small beating after he tried to insult them.
Commenting about the arrest, Nandi Senator, Samson Cherargei, said Sonko deserves fair treatment adding that he is still innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
However, the Senator, who is a close ally of Ruto, said that he supports the idea of Governors accused of graft being barred from accessing their office.
He went on to argue that County bosses can, however, discharge their duties elsewhere.
“I agree that Governors should be barred from accessing the office because it becomes a scene of a crime but that one does not prevent a Governor from executing their functions from any part of the county…” Cherargei stated.
