Tuesday December 10, 2019 - Gatundu South Member of Parliament, Moses Kuria, has defended Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko following his arrest.
Speaking during an interview with the media, Kuria said that Sonko is deemed innocent until proven guilty.
The MP further said that he is fully behind the war against graft.
"Sonko is still an innocent man.”
“I think we are being conditioned to illegalities.”
“The DPP has no right to warn in a Press Conference, he can go to court," he said.
The MP, who is perceived as Deputy President William Ruto's ally, also argued that Samburu and Kiambu County are in worse situations compared to Nairobi.
This follows a discussion of there being a vacuum in Nairobi's governance.
"I don’t think we are in a bad situation in Nairobi, we are in a bad situation in Samburu and Kiambu" Kuria noted.
The lawmaker also said that Nairobi citizens will be looking at a by-election by April or March if things about Sonko's arrest don't end soon.
Sonko is facing several charges in relation to embezzlement of Sh358 million meant for the County Government of Nairobi.
