Friday December 20, 2019 - Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru, has spoken about her relationship with former Prime Raila Amolo Odinga amid speculation of an alliance between them.
Speaking during an interview, Waiguru admitted that she was not in good terms with the African Union Special Envoy because of the National Youth Service Scandal.
She noted that Raila ruined her life with wild accusations linking her to the NYS scandal.
However, she said that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila made her change her mind at the end of the day.
She reiterated that she now enjoys cordial ties with the former Prime Minister.
The former Devolution Cabinet Secretary also said that they decided to settle their scores for the sake of peaceful co-existence among Kenyans from different parts of the nation.
“I have said several times that my relationship with Odinga was not good because of the accusations that he made against me in regards to NYS and the political damage he caused to my reputation.”
“And this was not something that I took lightly.”
“However, because of the handshake, it was in the best interest of the country not to put just my personal views but the interests of the country at heart and therefore I let that issue pass,” she said.
