Friday, December 6, 2019 - Embattled Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko’s daughter, Saumu Mbuvi, has reacted to her father’s dramatic arrest with a cryptic post on Instagram.
The flamboyant and controversial County boss was arrested in Voi and airlifted to Nairobi where he’s expected to face graft charges and money laundering.
Taking to Instagram, Saumu posted praying and crying emojis to inform her followers that she is heartbroken and praying for her father during this trying period.
On Friday morning, Director of Public Prosecution, Nordin Hajji, ordered for the immediate arrest of Sonko and 8 others for embezzling Sh357 million.
“I have ordered for the immediate arrest and arraignment of Sonko and other officials for the crimes of conflict of interest arising from having received money from the county of Nairobi while serving as governor, unlawful acquisition of public property, money laundering and other economic crimes,” said Haji in a presser.
“Investigation into these crimes have been challenging because of the repeated attempt by the accused to obstruct the cause of the investigations by deploying investigation tactics in addition to using goons to threaten law enforcement officials carrying out their constitutional mandate,” Hajji added.
