Wednesday December 4,2019 - Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official, Dr Roselyn Akombe, has blasted former Mukurweini MP, Kabando wa Kabando, for supporting the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga
Akombe and Kabando were in the University of Nairobi in the 90s concurrently before taking different career paths, which saw Akombe ending up at the IEBC while Kabando became MP.
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Kabando wa Kabando accused Deputy President William Ruto of allegedly undermining President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Uhuru-Ruto alliance, Kabando argued, was circumstantial in nature adding that they got sympathy votes due to ICC cases.
"We reluctantly but robustly supported UhuRuto deal after political propagandists fabricated 07/08 PEV investigations. SOME victims were depicted villains. We JUSTIFIABLY sympathized, defended our own. That’s after quiet efforts by some of us to get Raila-Uhuru alliance failed," Kabando said.
But in a quick rejoinder, Akombe suggested that Kabando had lost his glorious past which he showcased during his time as a UoN student leader.
Akombe, who is currently in the United States asked Kabando, a key supporter of the handshake, to go back to his past glory days by abandoning his current style of politics.
"My brother, as the SONU leader, you proved that you could unite students beyond ethnocentric/ethno-nationalism. Rather than being stuck with these three men, who you are clearly unhappy about, why not go back to who you were in the 1990s?," Akombe posed.
