November 28, 2019 - Narok Senator, Ledama Ole Kina, has poked
holes into the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report and its suggestions.
In a post on social media on Wednesday, the ODM Senator faulted the report saying it seeks to introduce an imperial presidency, which he termed as bad for the
country.
He said that if implemented in its current state, the
report will further divide the nation, noting that he will not support it at
all.
"We maintain the Status quo for now!"
"If we implement the report the way it is, we will divide Kenya further ... there is no way I will support a report that creates an imperial presidency - no way (sic)!" Ole Kina said.
"If we implement the report the way it is, we will divide Kenya further ... there is no way I will support a report that creates an imperial presidency - no way (sic)!" Ole Kina said.
This was in reference to the BBI taskforce's suggestion
that there be introduced a system where the President will have powers to
appoint and fire a Prime Minister and the Cabinet Ministers.
Ole Kina becomes the first ODM member to openly oppose
the changes, which enjoy the full backing of the party leader and former Prime
Minister Raila Odinga.
