Tuesday October 29, 2019 - Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his wife, Mama Ida Odinga, are currently engaged in a matrimonial dispute with widow of the late Fidel Odinga, Lwam Bekele.
Fidel, who was the Odinga’s eldest son, died in 2015 and left behind properties worth billions of shillings and huge amounts of cash in his seven bank accounts.
Before he died, Fidel was selling bitumen to various road contractors and according to insiders, he made billions of shillings out of this venture.
In the Bitumen venture only, Fidel made Sh 2 billion which he was supposed to share with his father.
According to Kenya’s Succession Act, the wife or husband is the major beneficiary of her husband or wife’s estate in case of death unless the deceased had written a will directing how his or her estate should be administered.
Sources in the know say Raila had invested billions of shillings through his son, Fidel, who he was grooming to succeed him once he called it a day in politics but his death crushed the ODM leader’s dream.
One of the properties that is making Raila Odinga sick is a hotel in Kisumu along Harambee Road and a housing estate project at the lakeside city with over 300 units valued at around Sh 2.5 billion.
The billions he had hidden in Fidel Odinga’s accounts were inherited by Lwam Bekele who is now enjoying the money with young men in high end clubs.
