Tuesday October 15, 2019- Former Gem MP, Jakoyo Midiwo, has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to ensure World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge is exempted from tax, following his recent marathon milestone.
In an interview with NTV on Tuesday,Midiwo said he felt good when he saw the marathoner cross the line in less than two hours.
He further noted that he is proud of the athlete, and urged the government to support him and other sports personalities in different ways including tax exemption.
“When Kipchoge crossed that line I felt so good I cried. It is good to see Kenyans doing well. Uhuru please tell KRA not to touch his money," Midiwo said.
Kiambu Senator, Kimani Wamatangi also echoed Midiwo’s sentiments saying Uhuru should ask KRA to exempt , Eliud Kipchoge from tax.
During the Saturday run in Vienna, Austria, Kipchoge pocketed Sh 400 million from INEOS among other bonus.
INEOS is a petrochemical company owned by Sir James Ratcliffe.
Ratcliffe is Britain’s richest man.
