Sunday September 29, 2019-Former Subukia MP, Koigi Wamwere, has condemned Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko for suspending 16 senior county officials over Tuesday‘s tragedy at Precious Talent School in Nairobi where 8 students died after a school building collapsed.
In an interview with Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche show on Saturday, Koigi said it is funny for Sonko to fire the officers yet he is personally battling similar allegations.
He said that Sonko lacks the moral authority of accusing anyone of graft, adding that the fact that many buildings in the county fall short of the required standards is proof enough that he should not be anywhere near City Hall.
"Sonko's county has a lot of poor buildings. He is also sacking his officials for alleged corruption yet he too is being investigated over the same. He lacks the moral authority,” he said.
The veteran politician also pocked holes on a recent survey that ranked Sonko among the best performing governors in the country.
According to the politician, weighing the two clearly shows that some game was played with the intention of misleading Kenyans.
"How can Nairobi have so many issues and emerge number 3? We are being played with and we now have our answer,” Koigi stated.
