Monday
September 23, 2019 - The
burial of slain Dutch tycoon, Tob Cohen, has been postponed to tomorrow after
it failed to meet the requirement of Jewish burial rites.

Tob Cohen was from a
family of Jewish immigrants who went to Netherlands in 1930s and was a devoted
Jewish even when he settled in Kenya.
According to sources, the burial was postponed
because of lack of quorum of priests who were to undertake the burial rights.
For a Jewish burial to proceed, they need at least 10
priests.
Only 8 priests were available and that is the reason the
burial was postponed to Tuesday.
Before his death, Cohen had expressed his desire to be given a Jewish
send-off, despite having lived in Kenya for more than 30 years.
The body of Tob Cohen was found in a septic tank at his Kitisuru home on
13th September, after disappearing on July 19, 2019.
Cohen’s widow, Sarah Wairimu, who is the chief
suspect in the murder, was allowed to attend the burial which was taking place
at the Jewish Cemetery along Prof Wangari Maathai Road, Nairobi.
