Tuesday September 3, 2019-A vocal Rift Valley lawmaker has said she will not support Jubilee Party candidate, Macdonald Mariga, in the upcoming Kibra by- election.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Baringo County Women Representative, Gladwell Cheruiyot, said that as a member of KANU, she will support the ODM candidate in spirit of the handshake between NASA leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“I'm a 'handshake ' person, so I will tend to support ODM in Kibra by-election. They (Jubilee) don't like handshake, that is why we (KANU) will support an ODM candidate,"she said.
Though ODM is yet to announce its candidate for the Kibra by -election, sources said ODM party leader ,Raila Odinga, has already settled on a candidate and the Saturday‘s nomination exercise is just a formality.
According to sources, Mariga is being financed by Deputy President William Ruto and his aim is to embarrass Raila Odinga in his home turf during the by-election slated for November 7, 2019.
