Monday September 9, 2019 - Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga, was not happy with late Kibra MP, Ken Okoth’s brother, Imran Okoth, for winning Saturday’s Orange Party nominations, Senate Majority Leader, Kipchumba Murkomen, has said.
In an interview on K24’s Punchline on Sunday evening, Murkomen, who is also the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, said Imran Okoth was not Raila Odinga’s preferred candidate in the hotly contested nominations.
“In fact, there is a political analysis that Imran was not his preferred candidate and that if it was up to him, he would have wanted somebody else to win," Murkomen said.
He, nevertheless, congratulated ODM for finally choosing their candidate and even went ahead to shower Imran with compliments stating that he was a fantastic guy.
Imran, who was the former Kibra Constituency Development Fund (CDF) manager, will now battle it out with Jubilee Party candidate, Macdonald Mariga, who has the backing of Deputy President William Ruto.
Others in the race include Eliud Owalo who is vying on the Amani National Congress (ANC) party ticket.
