Friday September 27, 2019 – The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has today published names of four individuals who were involved in last month’s heist at Stanchart’s Nairobi West branch where sh 72 million was stolen.
In the heist that shocked the country, criminals posing as G4S officers stole the money after disabling CCTV inside the Nairobi West based bank.
Although a number of suspects have been arrested, DCI detectives “hit the jackpot” on Thursday after they arrested four people in connection with the heist.
The four include include Simon Gichui (AP), Florence Karuku (AP), Caroline Waithera (AP), and Kenya Defence Forces officer, Eunice Wangari.
DCI sleuths also impounded a motor vehicle suspected to be bought using proceeds of crime.
“A motor vehicle suspected to be proceeds of the crime was kept as Exhibit,” DCI said.
The four are said to be the masterminds of the heist that has seen a number of people arrested including security officers and bank employees.
