Monday September 2, 2019-President Uhuru Kenyatta is reportedly impressed by Maasai Mara University Finance Director, Spencer Sankale Ole Sankale, who blew the whistle over misappropriation of Sh 190 million by University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Mary Walingo.
According to impeccable State House sources, Uhuru, who has declared that he will eliminate corruption before his tenure ends in 2022, urged the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), George Kinoti, to ensure that all the culprits involved in the looting are brought to book.
Uhuru also urged Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiangi, to ensure that Sankale is put on Witness Protection Unit so as to protect him from being harmed by looters.
“He personally ordered the witness to be put on protection unit,”said a source.
Spencer, secretly made recordings of illegal cash transactions he was allegedly instructed to make by Professor Mary Walingo.
The accountant who had served as the acting finance officer before his demotion in August 2017, was furnished with audio and video tapes made over a period of two years.
The incriminating evidence pointed at the VC, Spencer's replacement after his demotion Anaclet Okumu and Walingo's driver Noor Abdi, as the main culprits.
DCI detectives are already camping at Maasai Mara University waiting to arrest Walingo and her accomplices.
