Sunday September 22, 2019-As campaigns for the Kibra by-election heat up, ODM leader Raila Odinga is leaving nothing to chance against the Jubilee rival McDonald Mariga.
The ODM party is reportedly using a door-to-door campaign strategy as opposed to rallies to garner votes and ward off competition from their opponents.
Speaking yesterday, ODM Director of Elections and Suna East MP, Junet Mohamed, stated that they had abandoned the rallies for a more personalised method of convincing voters to support their candidate, Imran Okoth.
“This time we are going from door to door. We have left rallies to Owalo (ANC candidate) and Mudavadi,” Junet explained that they were seeking to reach more voters.
According to Junet, they are aiming for a landslide victory in Kibra by-election.
Raila Odinga cancelled a rally that was to be held at the DC's grounds.
“On Saturday, we are going to all the SDA Churches in Kibra to talk to the people on the need for peaceful campaigns and elections, which has always been the hallmark of ODM’s philosophy,” Junet added.
Tactics that will be used by ODM include appealing for the Kikuyu vote in the by-election and the door-to-door strategy would guarantee a landslide victory.
Various leaders including Edwin Sifuna (ODM Secretary-General), George Aladwa (Makadara) and Tim Wanyonyi (Westlands) have been deployed by Raila to ensure the party wins the seat by any means necessary.
