Monday September 2, 2019-Fromer Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Friday shocked mourners after he rebuked Migori Governor Okoth Obado to his face.
While speaking on Friday at the funeral of Joseph Ogutu Magaka in Kanyamkago Ward, Siaya County, Raila slammed Obado, who was also in attendance, for driving a wedge between Luo Community with his divisive politics.
He argued that the county boss, who belongs to the Kanyamkago clan in Migori and Homa Bay, was creating a rift between the South Region Luos and those from Central Regions of Kisumu and Siaya counties.
He further advised that all Luos originated from Siaya.
In his defence, Obado denied that he was responsible for divisions in the Nyanza region.
“Ignore what others tell you about me, I support you 100 per cent. I also support the handshake a hundred per cent,” Obado stated.
He also appealed to Raila to include him in party events after complaining that he had been alienated from his (Raila's) inner circle and had reportedly been missing from ODM's events.
“Next time you (Raila) have meetings, please invite me too, you have left me out completely that is why others had a chance of gossiping negatively about me,” continued the county boss.
Rumours had started swirling that Obado was getting closer to Deputy President William Ruto.
He, on numerous occasions, reportedly hosted the DP in Migori and at one point publically questioned the handshake between Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
