Thursday September 26, 2019 - A section of elders drawn from six constituencies of Makueni County have endorsed Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
The elders said their decision to back Ruto was informed by his relentless effort to propel development programs in all parts of the country regardless of tribal or political inclination.
The leaders said that whereas they support President Uhuru Kenyatta's development agenda, they were keen to ensure Ruto takes over the mantle of leadership after 2022 to continue the legacy of his predecessor.
"We support President Uhuru Kenyatta's Big Four agenda, however, as elders, we have deemed it important to support his Deputy William, Ruto, in 2022 because he has demonstrated that he is development conscious," said the group’s spokesperson.
They further hailed the DP for his humility and leadership skills saying he has remained loyal to Uhuru and served his Government tirelessly since 2013.
"The elders have added the five agenda which is ensuring that Ruto becomes President in 2022 because he has demonstrated good leadership and knelt before Kenyans to ask for their support," they added.
According to the Makueni elders, the interests of te Kamba nation would be better taken care of by Ruto than any other contestant.
