Monday September 30, 2019 - A vocal Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Senator has said the Orange Party must use all necessary means to ensure it recaptures the Kibra parliamentary seat in the November 7th by-election.
The Kibra seat fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer in July this year.
According to Nyamira Senator, Okongo Omogeni, the Raila Odinga led party has no other option but to retain the seat, failure to which it will appear to have lost its footing on matters city politics.
"If we lose this by-election it will be a disaster, the statement will be that ODM has lost Nairobi," he said.
On her part, Kandara MP, Alice Wahome, of the rival Jubilee Party observed that ODM will have it hard clinching the seat, saying it has often been overrated in Kibra.
The Kibra parliamentary race has attracted 3 notable candidates including Jubilee Party‘s MacDonald Mariga, ODM‘s Imran Okoth and ANC’s Eliud Owalo.
Mariga and Imran are the front runners in the race to succeed Ken Okoth.
