Thursday September 12, 2019-Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to move fast and tame what he termed as growing rebellion within the Jubilee government.
Speaking yesterday during an interview, Ledama claimed Deputy President William Ruto was now acting as the 'leader of Opposition' and accused him of being behind the discord in the ruling party.
The ODM Senator said for the President to have control of his government, he must stamp authority over his DP William Ruto.
He insisted Uhuru must demonstrate his leadership skills even though the Constitution has limited options on how he can deal with his perceived rebellious principal assistant.
“Uhuru has to be decisive, he’s got to rule over his deputy. As a leader, you’ve got to say this is the path we are going to take as a nation. The problem we have is a Constitution that almost created the presidency as a shared responsibility between the President and his deputy,” Ledama said.
On the ongoing Mau forest evictions debate, the Senator asked Uhuru not to relent until all the illegal squatters leave the country's greatest water catchment tower.
"I’m very happy with what President Kenyatta is doing. He’s taken up an issue that begun during the Kenyattta era, Moi era, then the Kibaki era, Uhuru Kenyatta is now doing something about it," he said.
