Wednesday September 4, 2019 - Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga, seems to have panicked over the nomination of football star, MacDonald Mariga, as the Jubilee Party candidate in the Kibra by-election slated for November 7.

According to sources, Raila Odinga invited the top ODM leadership on Monday night to his house in Karen where they discussed about the possible ODM candidate in Kibra by-election.

ODM is yet to identify a candidate for the by-election and the party’s nomination exercise will be held on Saturday.

However, Raila Odinga wants consensus to be used in identifying the candidate rather than participating in the nomination.

"He fears having a scenario where opponents take advantage and infiltrate the exercise.”

“That is why he has called a meeting to mull for consensus," said a source who requested anonymity.

Raila also believes that his political enemies led by Deputy President William Ruto may infiltrate the exercise and destabilize the nomination.

“Opponents could distabilise nominations to their advantage that's why Jakom wants the candidates to agree.”

“Nominations will be the last option,” the source said.
