Thursday September 12, 2019 - Newly appointed Maasai Mara University Vice Chancellor, Prof Bulitia Godrick Mathews, is threatening “Mara Heist” whistle-blowers with job termination letters should they continue to cooperate with detectives investigating the looting of Sh 190 million by former VC, Prof Mary Walingo.

On Wednesday, the University’s Council sent Walingo on compulsory leave and appointed Mathews as a VC.

Mathews is a close friend of Walingo.

He is now threatening to sack all employees who exposed Walingo.

Walingo was interdicted for looting Sh 190 million.

Two workers had been compiling evidence against the don, and they invited Citizen TV to investigate their claims.

The two have reported death threats from Prof Godrick Mathews.

In a memo to workers of the university, Prof Mathews urged the University employees not to cooperate with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who are investigating all those who were involved in the Mara Heist.

“The VC has been threatening us with termination of our jobs if we cooperate with police,” said one employee.
