Tuesday September 10, 2019 - Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has expressed confidence in winning the Kibra seat that fell vacant following the untimely death of Ken Okoth in July.
Addressing journalists after Imran Okoth was issued with an ODM certificate on Tuesday, ODM’s Director of Elections, Junet Mohamed, said the Orange Party is ready to retain the seat.
“Kile chama ambacho kimefanya nominations nchini katika uchaguzi huu wa Kibra ni ODM; wale wengine hawakufanya nominations…walifanya selection!”
“Nawaambia Jubilee, ANC, Tangatanga na hao wengine wajitayarishe kwani Kibra ni ODM," Junet said.
Junet’s sentiments were echoed by ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, who said all the aspirants agreed to support Imran.
Raila said he is confident that Imran will beat Jubilee Party candidate, Macdonald Mariga, who is being fronted by Deputy President William Ruto.
Imran floored nine other aspirants in last Saturday's ODM primaries with 4,382 votes.
He was followed by Peter Orero (1,218), John Milla Otieno (906), Ben Musungu (524), Christone Odhiambo (417), Tony Ogola (381), Stephen Okello (228), Brian Owino (127), Reuben Ojijo (52) and Eric Obayi (45).
