Thursday September 19, 2019-Nominated MP, Maina Kamanda, has said he will support ODM candidate, Imran Okoth in November 7th by election despite President Uhuru Kenyatta endorsing Jubilee Party candidate, MacDonald Mariga.

On Wednesday, Uhuru surprised many Kenyans when he endorsed Mariga for the seat.

Mariga is being touted as Deputy President William Ruto’s candidate a claim he dismissed on Wednesday saying he has backing from all Jubilee leaders.

Maina, who was addressing journalists on Thursday after meeting ODM Party leader, Raila Odinga, at his Capitol Hill offices, said his decision to support ODM in Kibra is in line with the handshake spirit between Raila and Uhuru.

“I will support the ODM candidate in the Kibra by-election because to me his like the Jubilee candidate. This is my personal decision and it should be clear that I am not speaking for anyone,” Maina said.

Kamanda, who is former Starehe MP, stated he holds Raila Odinga in high regards and appreciates his commitment to foster peace and unity in the country and deemed it important to support the ODM candidate.
