Wednesday September 25, 2019- Kiambu County Assembly has joined other four counties in rejecting Punguza Mzigo Initiative saying it was not people driven.
Punguza Mzigo is an initiative by Third Way Alliance party leader, Dr Ekuru Aukot, that proposes a raft of changes in the Legislature to reduce the country’s high wage bill.
Among the proposals of the bill, is reduction of MPs from current 416 to 147.
Also the initiative seeks to scrap the position of Deputy Governor.
But when discussing the bill on Wednesday, Kiambu MCAs kicked out the initiative saying it would be betrayal to the people of Kiambu if they passed the bill.
Kiambu is the fifth county to reject the bill after Siaya, Muranga, Nyamira and Kirinyaga counties rejected it.
The only county that has endorsed the initiative is Uasin Gishu County.
