Kamata Kamata Friday is back as DPP orders DCI to arrest of Kisumu County Speaker, ONYANGO OLOO, and a KISII MP over Lake Basin Mall scandal

Friday September 6, 2019 - Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Noordin Haji, has today ordered the arrest and prosecution of Kisumu County Assembly Speaker, Onyango Oloo, for inflating the cost of the Lake Basin Mall.

According to the DPP, Onyango who was the Chairman of Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) inflated the cost of the Lake Basin Mall from an initial Sh 2.5 billion to Sh 4.1 billion.

Haji also ordered the arrest of former LBDA Managing Director, Peter Aguko.

Haji said Oloo and Oguko conspired with Erdemann Property Limited to inflate the cost and steal Sh 1.6 billion taxpayers’ money.

Erdemann is also accused of bribing Oloo with Sh17 million and other benefits including apartments and shops.

Others who face arrest are LBDA evaluation committee members - Anthony Kisaka (CEO), Nelson Onyango (Production Technologist), Henry Odindo (Quantity Surveyor, Quantech), Emmanuel Milikau (Architect, Symbion) and Moses Wekesa (Consultant, Symbion).

From the Tender Committee, Haji has called for the arrest of five members - Onyango Chere, Godfrey Mwangi, Albert Omondi, Teresia Ochaka and Amelia Atieno.

Contractors who face arrest are Jing, Zeyun, Edermann, Oscar Odhiambo, Symbion, Lydia Owino, Vincent Makonjio and Innocent Obiri.
