Wednesday September 18, 2019-Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has insisted that he is in Parliament courtesy his hard work and good relationship with his constituents and not an endorsement from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking on Wednesday, he rubbished claims that he has President Uhuru Kenyatta to thank for his re-election, claiming that he made it on his own as Uhuru was not in any way involved.
The MP, who is not new to exchanges with Uhuru, claimed that the President at some point took credit for his success, which he said should not be the case.
He added that when Uhuru toured his constituency during the 2017 campaigns, he never at any point endorsed him, and it is actually him who endorsed Uhuru and the Jubilee Party.
"Alisema hivyo (he said that) but that's completely out, it's completely wrong. Rais alikuja Bahati lakini hakuna penye alisema chagueni Ngunjiri. Ni mimi nilipigia chama debe (the President came to Bahati but never endorsed me, I am the one who endorsed the party)," he said.
Ngunjiri was speaking on Radio Citizen, where he noted that being among the few leaders who were re-elected in Nakuru County is proof of his good work.
