Thursday September 12, 2019 - Third Way Alliance party leader, Dr Ekuru Aukot, has revealed why Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru, is opposing the Punguza Mzigo Initiative.
Punguza Mzigo Initiative calls for the reduction of the number of MPs from 416 to 147
The initiative also calls for a life sentence to anyone caught embezzling public money like Waiguru.
According to Aukot, Waiguru is opposed to the initiative because of its call for accountability.
"...Anne Waiguru we know you are scared because this bill is awakening the demons, the spirits, and the ghosts of NYS.”
“They are staring at you, and let me tell you, you can catwalk in Kirinyaga.... but I'm telling you the people of Kenya are coming after you, you must account for what happened in NYS," Aukot said.
"We know you are worried about the integrity issues this bill is addressing which is why you are propagating lies," Aukot added.
Aukot spoke moments after Waiguru lauded the Kirinyaga County Assembly for rejecting Punguza Mzigo.
Waiguru argued that the Aukot’s bill does not recognise women and is a plot to roll back gains made under devolution.
