Tuesday September 3, 2019-Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga, has finally spoken about the nomination of legendary Kenyan footballer, Macdonald Mariga, as Jubilee Party candidate in the Kibra-by election slated for November 7 this year.
On Saturday, Jubilee Party through its Secretary General, Raphael Tuju, announced that it is Mariga who will fly the party’s flag in Kibra-by election.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Raila through ODM Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, said the party was not paying attention to what Jubilee and other parties were doing ahead of the by-election.
“It does not matter the players that they are bringing to the contest, we are preparing ourselves and we are not paying much attention to who other parties are nominating as their candidates (Wale wachezaji ambao wanataka kuwaweka kwenye kiwanja sisi tunajipanga kivyetu hatuangalii sana vile vyama vingine vinawaweka nani kama wagombezi)," Sifuna stated.
Sifuna went on to add that the party's focus was to ensure that it delivered on a peaceful nomination exercise scheduled on September 7.
Kibra seat fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth in July.
