Wednesday, September 25, 2019- Flashy businessman, Gor Semelango, has been sentenced to 30 days in jail without a bail option over Sh9 million debt.

The former Youth Fund chairman is accused of failing to settle the debt belonging to Lumumba Mumma & Kaluma Advocates who had sought the court’s intervention to help them get their money back.

The shrewd businessman was arrested in Nairobi on Tuesday and later taken to a Milimani Magistrate’s Court where he was sentenced.

According to a reliable source, Semelango was slapped with the 30 day jail sentence for colluding with police to evade arrest.

Once he serves the 30 days in prison, Lumumba Mumma & Kaluma Advocates will file a formal complaint in court to coerce the businessman to pay them the Ksh9 million that he owes them.

Semelango is currently being held at Industrial Area Prison.

“Whereas the said Evans Gor Semelang’o has neither obeyed the decree nor satisfied the court that he can he is entitled to be discharged from custody: you are hereby commanded and required to take and receive the said Evans Gor Semelang’o into civil prison and keep him imprisoned there in for a period of 30 days,” the court order directed to officer in charge Industrial Area GK Prison read in part.

During a recent interview, Semelango revealed that he wears two watches worth Sh500, 000 each.

“Time is money, and I take my time very seriously. I have businesses in New York and my two watches are set in different time zones.” he said.
