Monday, September 02, 2019- It is now official. Former Kenyan international midfielder, MacDonald Mariga, has joined politics.

Speculation was rife that the 32-year old was keen on vying for the Kibra Parliamentary seat that fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth, who succumbed to cancer.

The former Inter-Milan ace has now confirmed his entry to active politics after he stormed the Jubilee Headquarters on Monday morning flanked by supporters hoping to secure the Jubilee ticked for the November 7 by-election.

The supporters were dressed in Jubilee colors and carried placards displaying the Mariga’s name and favourite jersey number 17.

Mariga has been holding meetings with DP Ruto and sources intimate to us that it is Ruto who is pushing him to vie due to his broad appeal as he hopes to snatch the seat from ODM.

Kibra is widely regarded as former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga’s stronghold and should ODM fail to retain the seat, it will be regarded as a big blow to Raila and a major victory for Ruto.
