Friday September 27, 2019-Youth department Chief Administrative Secretary Rachael Shebesh admits that Deputy President William Ruto commands huge following among female legislators.
After the formation of the Embrace movement, Dr Ruto's supporters constituted Inua Mama Movement which has been rallying for his 2022 candidature.
Speaking on Wednesday, Shebesh, who was meeting ex-Mungiki leader Maina Njenga, lamented that the Embrace team was struggling to contain Ruto’s Inua Mama Movement.
She urged youths to join the Embrace team, which leans towards President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, to promote peace and development.
"I am very happy that you (Maina Njenga) that you love Embrace. Sometimes we look so lonely. Most of us in Embrace on Uhuru's wing, we are few. The other Jubilee women leaders are on the other wing (Ruto's) which I don't want to talk about," she said.
"The work which you've now given me General (Njenga), has given me more energy. I am now happy that our youths have joined us. As we support you, remember there is a person called Uhuru who wants a united Kenya. That's why he chose to work with Raila," she added.
From Uhuru's Mt Kenya backyard, only Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru and Murang'a Woman Representative Sabina Chege have been active in Embrace movement.
Most of MPs from the region are either in Inua Mama or not aligned to any of the two. Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba is also a member.
