Monday September 2, 2019-Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli on Sunday, made disparaging remarks against Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking at St Christopher Catholic Church in Mavoko, Machakos County, the COTU boss savagely attacked Ruto and his 2022 dreams.
He watered down the DP's 2022 presidential ambitions stating he is not fit to lead the country.
“I tell Kenyans and assure them that in 2022 we shall have a leader but not Ruto,” Atwoli affirmed.
According to Atwoli, Ruto cannot be trusted with the presidency because he had on several occasions, publicly opposed the truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
He also condemned all those against the handshake between Uhuru and Raila.
Additionally, he declared that those critical of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) would not make the government during the next General Election.
On July 27, 2019 , the COTU boss declared that he would flee the country if Ruto became President in 2022.
“I am ready to leave this country should he (DP Ruto) become the president of this country,” he announced.
The vocal union leader was speaking at the burial of Kenya Engineering Workers Union official, Fredrick Odindo, in Rageng'ini, Siaya County.
