Thursday September 12, 2019 - There was drama in Kagumo Market in Kirinyaga County on Thursday after area residents chased away Governor Anne Waiguru, who was set to open a new market.
The Governor was chased away by thousands of angry and frustrated locals who were chanting "BBI pelekea Kamotho..."
Waiguru who had a rough time was helped by police who came and rescued her from the irate crowd that was baying for her blood.
Waiguru is said to have angered the crowd after she told them to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
BBI is an initiative spearheaded by NASA leader, Rala Odinga, and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The initiative’s aim is to increase more seats in the Executive by creating a position of the Prime Minister and two of his Deputies
The residents were also infuriated by Waiguru’s pronouncement yesterday where she said no Kikuyu or Kalenjin should be elected President once Uhuru retires in 2022.
“Let’s be honest, Kenya has many communities and one or two cannot continue dominating the leadership of this country,” Waiguru said on Wednesday.
