Thursday August 15, 2019 - A section of Jubilee MPs, including Nyeri Town lawmaker, Ngunjiri Wambugu, have revealed Deputy President William Ruto's habit that is repelling him from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to reports, the leaders believe that the DP's constant attacks on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is likely to strain his relationship with the President.
They noted that Ruto was undermining the President with his constant anti-BBI remarks and that Uhuru would rather cut links with him and back the task force.
Wambugu, particularly criticized Ruto for dismissing the BBI team, arguing that he cannot purport to speak for Jubilee Party yet Uhuru had endorsed the taskforce.
This was after the DP argued that politicians engaging in the 'punguza mzigo' and BBI campaigns were derailing his party from achieving the Big 4 Agenda.
“The Jubilee administration will not be distracted from delivering on our manifesto and HE’s Big Four plan by those engaged in the raging debate on Punguza Mizigo, BBI or 2022.”
"They should be objective, truthful, and conduct an honest conversation that is in the best interest of all of us,” stated Ruto.
Wambugu's remarks were echoed by his Gatanga counterpart, Nduati Ngugi, who argued that the DP's failure to support the handshake meant they were, in a way, opposed to the President's ideals.
