Friday, August 02, 2019 - Celebrated Kenyan television couple, Lulu Hassan and Rashid Abdalla, recently celebrated 10 years as husband and wife.
The Citizen TV news anchors are the first couple in the history of Kenyan media to co-host a news bulletin.
Despite being in the limelight for over a decade, they have proven to be great role models professionally and a living testament that marriages do work in an era where most marriages end even before they start in earnest.
Remember, Betty Kyallo’s marriage to Dennis Okari lasted for only six months.
So, what’s the secret to a happy and lasting marriage?
According to Lulu, their marriage journey has been great because they are more of friends than husband and wife.
The power couple has been blessed with three kids - two handsome boys and beautiful daughter.
Lulu also revealed that she’s managed to juggle between work and family with the help of househelps.
While many shudder at the mention of househelps because of the well documented horror stories about maids, Lulu advised parents to treat them right and they will never regret.
“Our house helps have helped me in raising my kids, and that is how I can juggle between work and family”
“It is how you decide to treat your house helps that matters most.”
“Like for us, we do everything together, including going for holidays” she said.
“To the young people, don’t get married since you see my marriage as perfect, but instead know what you want to achieve from that marriage because people are different”
