Thursday August 15, 2019 - State House has been forced to cancel President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour of Kisumu city where he was set to launch the refurbished port which would link East Africa through Lake Victoria.
Making the announcement on Wednesday evening, State House spokesperson, Kanze Dena, said that it's the committee responsible for the trip that can give details on why the President’s function was cancelled at the 11thhour.
“The event was being organised by the port launch committee and they informed us that the event had been postponed.”
“It was not a State House event.”
“It could be because the President has been out of the country and they wanted to give him time to plan his diary,” Kanze Dena stated.
But according to an impeccable State House source, the function was cancelled because some 3,000 Kisumu County residents were planning to disrupt Uhuru’s function after the demolition of their houses and businesses by Kisumu County Government.
They were planning to heckle and stone the President and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, to express their frustrations.
