Tuesday August 6,2019 - President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, have reportedly instructed local media houses to give the Punguza Mzigo Bill a blackout in exchange of Government advertisement contracts.
According to a manager attached to a local media house, Government operatives have approached the CEOs of media houses urging them not to give Punguza Mzigo wide coverage in exchange of advertising contracts worth billions of shillings.
The operatives, who are from State House and Harambee House, are of the view that giving too much coverage to Punguza Mzigo Bill is making the initiative popular and undermining Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) by Uhuru and Raila.
Punguza Mzigo is an initiative kick started by Third Way Alliance Party leader, Dr Ekuru Aukot.
The initiative is seeking to slash the number of MPs from 416 to 147 and also scrap the position of Deputy Governor.
BBI is the brainchild of Uhuru and Raila and it seeks to introduce the position of Prime Minister and two of his deputies.
Millions of Kenyans support Punguza Mzigo Bill since it seeks to reduce the country’s high wage bill by half.
Uhuru and Raila’s BBI wants to increase the wage bill.
