Thursday, August 08, 2019 - Two Kenyan rugby players who were accused of raping a budding musician by the name Wendy Kemunto last year, have been found guilty.
The accused, Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba, both of Kenya Harlequins, were charged of gang rape in April last year.
The talented singer narrated her ordeal at the hands of the two players on social media claiming that they drugged her before gang rapping her when she went to one of their houses after her birthday celebration on February 10th, 2018.
"I was slipping in and out of consciousness maybe due to shock but I was helpless.”
“I couldn’t fight two men who play rugby professionally.”
“Obviously, they were stronger hence I let them do whatever they wanted to do the whole night,” she claimed.
"I could have reported the case to the police but I was in denial, shock, pain and exhausted.”
“I didn’t want to report also because of the profile of one of these rugby players."
She also revealed that she was pregnant as a result of the rape.
Detectives relied on DNA examinations as well as the suspects’ and complainant’s statement, to assemble the case before DPP Nordin Haji gave the green light to take the matter to court.
The two now face up to 10 years in prison.
