Thursday August 8, 2019 - Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has come out to clarify on claims that renowned criminal lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, is not a registered lawyer in Kenya.

On Thursday, Stephen Ongeri, appearing on behalf of LSK, said Ombeta is no longer a practicing lawyer, adding that he does not have a practicing certificate.

Ombeta has been on the spot over the manner in which he has handled the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani, refusing severally to appear for the accused.

The criminal lawyer is representing three people believed to have murdered Mr Kimani in 2017.

Mr Ongeri, who is Willy Kimani’s lawyer told Justice Jessie Lessit that Ombeta is a stranger to court.

But in a quick rejoinder LSK President Allen Gichuhi clarified that lawyer Cliff Ombeta is licensed to practice as a lawyer in Kenya and rubbished reports by Ongeri that LSK cancelled his practicing credentials.
