Friday August 2, 2019 - On Thursday, Deputy President William Ruto charmed mourners with a story on how he helped the late Bomet Governor, Joyce Laboso, choose the right attire to wear.
Speaking during the memorial service at All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi, Ruto recounted the time when she rebuked Laboso for wearing a mini-skirt in public.
“Joyce became like my sister.”
“Whenever she put on a skirt that was not too low I would tell her - Joyce this skirt is short.”
“I used to tell her, in our community (Kalenjin) you must present yourself in such a way so that people respect you,” DP Ruto revealed amid laughter from the audience.
Laboso was a close ally to Ruto and after her death, he revealed that in their last conversation, she asked him to ensure the Government closely monitored and supported Bomet County.
"She asked me what was going on in Bomet and whether she could go home," Ruto noted.
“To answer her questions, Ruto and her husband, Edwin Obonyo, told her to "look after herself and allow the doctors to look after her,” he added.
