Friday August 30, 2019-Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director, Daniel Manduku, is among senior managers who are being investigated by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in connection with Sh 40 billion Kipevu Oil Terminal scandal.
The others managers are former MD Catherine Mturi-Wairi, Head of Procurement and Supplies Anthony Nyamancha, tender opening/evaluation committee secretary Aza Dzengo, and due diligence team member William Tenay.
According to documents in the hands of DCI, Manduku and his coterie inflated the tender of expansion of Kipevu Terminal from Sh 12 billion to Sh 40 billion.
“The tender was irregularly awarded by KPA to China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) despite the company not fulfilling the conditions set in the bid document,” said a letter from DCI to Director of Public Prosecutions.
Now following the allegations, Manduku whose term expires late this year, is saying he will not renew his contract.
Manduku , who has stolen billions, says he is tired of his job and he doesn’t want his contact renewed.
“He want to escape arrest by retiring,” said one of his friends.
