Friday August 23, 2019 - Drunkards in Busia County have found a way to beat Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i, in his own game during census.
This is after they found an alternative to Matiang’i's order to close bars during census saying they will cross the border to Uganda and drink from there.
The alcohol lovers said they will not be affected by the order, given that liquor is sold freely in the neighbouring country without any limitations.
Speaking in Busia town, the revellers said that they will not be in the house despite the Government's order requiring them to stay indoors to be counted.
"If they say they are closing bars at night, we will cross the border to Uganda and drink there, they will not find us at home.”
“Alcohol in Uganda is even cheaper, we have no stress with that order," said one of the locals.
"They better close them (bars) during the day and open them at night, they said enumerators will count people anywhere, they can count us in bars or they just count me at home because my wife will give them all the details they need," said another drunkard.
