Tuesday, August 20, 2019-Late singer John DeMathew could have survived the grisly road accident on Sunday if motorists stopped to attend to him after a good Samaritan helplessly waved them to stop and help him out of his badly damaged car.
According to an eye-witness, he tried to wave down cars for help together with another good Samaritan identified as Peter , but none of the motorists heeded his call.
He claims that De-Mathew was still alive after the accident.
The witness said that motorists sped off after he waved them down.
"I helped him stop other vehicles which were coming from behind while he removed the singer from the car. Most motorists refused to stop, thinking we were thugs stopping them," Peter revealed.
He further claimed that after removing De-Mathew from the wreckage, no motorist wanted to ferry him to hospital.
They opted to use a matatu.
"He wasn't talking but was breathing. His legs were still on the brake pedal and upper body between the two front seats. He was bleeding from the forehead and didn't utter a word. His eyes were closed," the witness narrated.
De-Mathew was pronounced dead upon arrival at Thika Nursing home.
