Saturday August 24, 2019-Deputy President William Ruto’s wife, Rachel Ruto, has offered free advice to women on what it takes to build a marriage that lasts.

Speaking at a function attended by hundreds of women at the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church in Sango, Kakamega County, Rachel noted that respect is key in keeping peace in a union in marriage.

Rachel, who has been married to Ruto since 1991, urged women to show love and respect to their spouses and ensure they also call them using pet names, even when they feel aggrieved.

“My fellow women, love your husbands. Don’t disrespect them, don’t fight them. The world is already harsh to them; when they come home, you should give them peace of mind. Start calling him appealing names like ‘sweetheart’, ‘honey’; even if he had made you angry,” stated Rachel.

She acknowledged that men have a tendency to irritate their wives, but it takes two to tango, and thus they should have cooler heads to reduce the tension for peace to prevail.

Rachel also questioned the single mother family structure noting that there was someone for everyone.

“I know sometimes they (men) can get on our nerves. Nonetheless, we should love them for peace to prevail. When you are living in harmony with your partner, your life will be less stressful.”

"What is this model of the family called ‘single mother’? To me, there is nothing like a single mother. Smile charmingly, and you will find your Mr Right,” added Rachel.
