Wednesday August 28, 2019-Deputy President William Ruto has thrown spanner into works by endorsing Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) spearheaded by President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance(NASA) leader, Raila Odinga.
Initially Ruto was opposed to the initiative but on Tuesday, the DP said he has no issues with BBI, adding that he is ready to scrutinize and support changes.
Ruto said he is ready for either presidential or parliamentary system, adding that the people of Kenya will make the final decision.
"If BBI report is about constitutional changes, we are ready. If they will not recommend constitutional changes, we are ready. If it's about presidential or parliamentary system, we are ready to investigate the system and give our input. Let them stop threats. We are not ready for divisive politics,"Ruto said.
Ruto’s move to endorse BBI will ultimately sends panic to Raila Odinga’s camp since they were accusing him of being against the constitutional changes.
