Rugby players FRANK WANYAMA and ALEX OLABA sentenced to 15-years in jail for gang raping musician WENDY KEMUNTO

Friday, August 16, 2019 - Two Kenyan Rugby players namely Frank Wanyama and Alex Olaba have been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment each after they were found guilty of gang raping a local musician.

While reading her judgment, Milimani Chief Magistrate, Martha Mutuku, said looking at all evidence and mitigation, a custodial sentence would be appropriate and slapped them with the minimum sentence provided for in law.

The victim, a budding musician by the name Wendy Kemunto, narrated her ordeal at the hands of the two players on social media claiming that they drugged her before gang rapping her when she went to one of their houses after her birthday celebration on February 10th, 2018.

"I was slipping in and out of consciousness may be due to shock but I was helpless.”

“I couldn’t fight two men who play rugby professionally.”

“Obviously, they were stronger hence I let them do whatever they wanted to do the whole night,” she claimed.

"I could have reported the case to the police but I was in denial, shock, pain and exhausted.”

“I didn’t want to report also because of the profile of one of these rugby players."

She also revealed that she was pregnant as a result of the rape.
