Friday, August 02, 2019 - Burial plans for the late Kibra MP, Ken Okoth, were paralysed on Thursday after his secret lover, Anita Muthoni Thumbi, secured an injunction from the high court barring Okoth’s planned cremation.
The lady, who is a nominated MCA in Nairobi, claims that he had a baby with the late legislator and wants to take a DNA test to resolve the paternity of her son.
Anita, who is a trained Nurse, says that she met Ken at Aga Khan Hospital in 2013 and they hit it off.
She also played a major role in his 2013 campaigns for the Kibra Parliamentary seat and friends say that you could tell there was more than a working relationship.
Once Okoth secured the Kibra Parliamentary seat, he used his connections to have Anita nominated in the Nairobi County Assembly
Their secret love affair blossomed and in 2015, they were blessed with a baby boy called Jayden Baraka Okoth.
While Ken was still married to his European wife, Monica, he always made time for his son.
From buying him his first bicycle to following up on his progress in school, Ken was a present father.
Furthermore, Ken had visited Anita’s parents in Nyeri to introduce himself.
Even during his last days, when he realised his days were numbered, Ken sent Anita a text message urging her to ‘take care of our son’
Now, Anita wants to be included in the burial arrangements and has sued Ken’s legal widow, Monica, his mother, Angelina, and the Lee funeral home until the controversy surrounding their son is resolved.
The hearing of the case is slated for August 9th.
