Saturday August 31, 2019-National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga, has urged Kisii county electorate to stop pushing Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiangi, to vie for presidency in 2022.
Speaking in Kisii on Friday during the burial ceremony of former Nyaribari Masaba MP Hezron Manduku, Raila said Kisii residents should not push Matiangi to vie to the top seat in 2022 and they should let him concentrate on his roles in government.
Raila refused to endorse Matiangi for presidency describing him as his son who deserved nothing but the best.
“Matiang’i is my son and I know he deserves the best. It is not yet time to start politicking and that is why we are against early political statements that will derail our country’s development agenda,” Raila said.
Before he spoke, area leaders led by Kitutu Chache North MP, Jimmy Angwenyi, asked for Raila's support and endorsement of CS Matiang'i to run for the country's top seat in 2022.
