No more prayers or fundraisers in schools!! Education Cabinet Secretary Prof GEORGE MAGOHA declares and warns Head Teachers against these two

Wednesday August 21, 2019 - Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof George Magoha, has banned prayers and fundraisers in public and private schools saying they are interfering with student’s academic activities.

Speaking in Machakos on Wednesday during the launch of the  Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) training, the tough-talking CS said that events in schools were being used for other purposes.

"There will be no events, no fundraising, no prayers whether in public or private schools...You can pray for your child in the house and it will arrive directly to the child," Magoha said.

The no-nonsense CS also called on school heads who had issued invitations for events in their schools to rescind those invitations with immediate effect.

He said that the school environment should be made conducive for the learning of students.

Magoha said Head Teachers who will violate the stern order will have disciplinary action taken against them.
